Campus Transporation Emissions Reduction Calculator

MyCommute is an online calculator and results tracking database for individuals and groups to measure the greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) arising from transportation to and from campus. Its unique ability to balance accuracy, details, student identity safety, simplicity and fun allows easy access to measurable and meaningful results.

Supported by an SQL Database, calculated values and planned savings are stored as individual or group totals, allowing for group comparison/competition or year over year trend data reporting.

Individuals can use MyCommute to:

• Calculate the emissions currrently generated by their travel to and from campus.
• Make a plan to reduce their transportation emissions.
• See what will happen if they implement their plan.
• Take action and check their results.

Sustainability Administrators can use MyCommute to:

• Evaluate students’ transportation habits before and after undertaking a sustainability education program.
• Help students become conscious of and work to reduce the environmental impacts of their transportation choices.
• Conduct a campus wide inventory of transportation emissions and set school goals for emissions reduction.
